About Casin Spero

Casin Spero joined LobbyIt with ten years of Washington, D.C. experience, having worked for multiple government agencies, non-profits, and private sector companies. Most recently, Casin served as an independent lobbyist and legislative director for a veteran service organization.

In those roles, he represented the interests of tens of thousands of veterans and active-duty service members to Congress and the Executive branch, as well as secured government financing for solar power projects in Africa and South America.

Casin has supported various government agencies over his career as an employee and contractor, including the Departments of Veterans Affairs, Labor, Defense, Transportation, and the SEC.

Casin spent more than three years serving his fellow veterans, first as a senior advisor to the Secretary of Veterans Affairs and then as the executive director of the congressionally chartered Creating Options for Veterans Expedited Recovery Commission (COVER). The COVER Commission’s recommendations would eventually be adopted into the Commander John School Hannon Act, signed into law by President Joe Biden in 2021. Casin led a team of more than 20 support staff guiding the congressionally and presidentially appointed commissioners through evaluating the sufficiency of mental health resources available to veterans across the country. While at the VA, he helped usher employee accountability and healthcare choice legislation through Congress to the President’s desk and provided oversight of a $10+ billion contract award to modernize the department’s electronic health records system.

Before that, Casin led Digital Media and Grassroots for Concerned Veterans for America. He executed successful issue advocacy and get-out-the-vote campaigns in more than a dozen states. He went on to work in personnel for the 2016 Presidential Transition and then in the White House Office of Presidential Personnel as Deputy Associate Director for Operations.

A seven-year United States Army veteran of Operation Iraqi Freedom, Casin graduated cum laude from Tiffin University. He is an avid but often disappointed Cleveland sports fan.
